In Aqmola region, in 40 km from Nur-Sultan city, on the territory of Malinovka village, that nowadays we call Akmol, in years of massive political repressions there was situated Akmola camp of wives of traitors called ALZHIR(Akmolinskii Lager’ Zhen Izmennikov Rodiny).

This penal camp was a large female colony on the territory of Kazakhstan; there were non-guilty wives, mothers, daughters and sisters of people who convicted in illusory charges in espionage against Soviet government. To the present day there hasn’t been preserved any materials of those times, and a few years ago to preserve the memory of the human tragedies, near the Akmol village there was created Museum and memorial complex of political repression and totalitarianism victims.
